Golf and Curling play an important part in the Club's social calendar and compliment each other as its summer and winter sports. By engaging wholeheartedly in both Golf and Curling exchanges with Rotary districts of the USA and Canada members of the Elgin club have found the true meaning of Rotary Fellowship.

Golf

Golf Exchange - For many years Elgin Rotary Club has participated in the District 1010 golf exchange with District 7280, Pennsylvania, USA. Year about, a team of 8 Rotarians and wives from the two districts are hosted by each other, play golf, go sight-seeing and socialise. Many lasting friendships have been cemented through this exchange with return visits being made by individuals from both countries.

Similar to the Team Golf Exchange is the Jackson-Christie which originated in 1962 and is contested between 2 individuals after play-offs in 1010 Scotland and 7280 USA. The final is match play over two rounds and again, it is year about "across the pond". Elgin have had four winners of the trophy since 1986, a feat unique to both districts.

Two members of the Club, Jim Young and David Sutherland were selected to represent Scotland against Canada. The tour took place in September 2007 and was based in the Toronto area. The Scottish team beat the Canadians

Fishing

With a number of keen anglers in the club we do have some very fishy stories to tell. However, successes can also be reported in this activity. In the Harry Rankin Trophy Competition, fished annually over 2 legs, Elgin members Graeme McKenzie, Bill Lindsay and James Clark have carried the flag for the club and Graeme won the trophy in 1997.

Curling

Since the opening of the new ice rink in Elgin the interest within the club has gone from strength to strength. Teams from Elgin Rotary Club compete in both Rotary competitions and league matches

Walking & Cycling

Walking & cycling outings for members, friends and relatives have proved to be very popular. The outings are usually held once a month and cater for families, pets, young and not so young usually culminating in a bar supper or BBQ.
