'Giving at Christmas' Collections 2014

Through bag packing and street collections and the amazing generosity of the public Rotary Club of Elgin’s ‘Giving at Christmas’ Collections raised a fantastic 7,000.

It is known that 1 in 4 of us will have a mental health episode at some time in our life so the Rotary Club of Elgin's support this year includes Mental Health.

The funds collected will be distributed evenly to 7 local mental health charities to support them in their good work.

The charities benefitting are Samaritans, Cruise Bereavement Counselling, Alzheimers Scotland, Scottish Association of Mental Health, Crossreach Counselling Moray, Turning Point Scotland, Enable Elgin and District.

Thank you to all who donated so generously.

Saturday 21 February:

Moray Leisure Centre 12 noon to 1pm

or Lossiemouth Pool 4 to 5pm

Do you want to be part of the biggest swim in the world and help end polio for ever?

Then sign up now for Elgin Rotary’s Swimarathon on 21st February.

The aim! To raise sufficient funds to end polio across the world by 2018. For every 1 raised by Rotary worldwide, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gives 5. You can make a difference.

Who can participate? It’s for everyone: businesses, schools, swimming clubs, local organisations, families, individuals. You can enter on your own or as a team of up to 5 members.

Entry donation is 5 for under 12s, per person, 10 if over…plus whatever sponsorship you can raise. Sponsorship can be for every length swum or for taking part. The minimum number of lengths you need to do is 6, but see if you can last the hour and let’s see how many lengths can be achieved by all!

It’s in relay format, lanes related to swimming competency. As each swimmer gets to a half length the next goes in. You swim 2 lengths and then rejoin your lane queue.

So, whether a good swimmer or not so good, Swimarathon is fun and for you! Take part and help end polio. Come along and make that difference.
